Maintenance/redesign of Smidsstraat Oct'24 to Mar '25

In the period from October 2024 to March 2025, the municipality will be carrying out work on Smidsstraat, Willebrordusplein, Noordstraat, and Molenweg. Unfortunately, guests of Aparthotel Zoutelande may experience some inconvenience during this period. The streets around our accommodation may be less accessible, particularly for those with reduced mobility.

The parking area will remain accessible throughout the entire period. Walkways will be placed in the streets.


All work will take place from Monday to Friday. During weekends, there will be no active work, and the inconvenience will only consist of possible reduced accessibility to the accommodations.


The work consists of:

- Setting up road closures and preparing the work site
- Breaking up the current paving
- Replacing various gas and water pipes and electrical cables
- Replacing gas, water, and electrical connections
- Replacing the current sewage system
- Installing part of the rainwater drainage system
- Replacing sewer house connections on municipal land up to the property boundary
- Applying a new road foundation and new paving
- Clean-up work

We hope that any inconveniences during your stay will be kept to a minimum, and we aim to keep the information regarding this period up to date so that you know exactly what to expect.

We understand that you probably have many questions about your stay now. We have therefore compiled a list of answers for you.

- Why didn't I know about the upcoming work when I booked my stay?
Unfortunately, we are dependent on this information and only recently received it from the municipality about the planned work. We would have liked to inform you earlier.

- Can I cancel?

- Can I rebook/change my reservation?

- Is my parking space accessible?
Yes, the parking area will remain accessible throughout the period of work.

- Between what times will work be carried out?
The times when maintenance work will be carried out are from Monday to Friday, from .... to .... hours.

- Is there a lot of noise disturbance?
 It is difficult for us to estimate when specific work will take place. We may know which work is being carried out only on short notice. Examples of noise disturbance may include: operating cranes, vibrating plates during working hours, drainage pumps during wet periods. Of course, everything will be done to minimize noise disturbance.

- Will we have normal water and electricity?
In principle, water and electricity will remain available. If there are moments when this is not (or may not be) the case, we will inform the guests staying at that time separately.

- Will the work continue during holidays?
In principle, the work will continue during holidays, except during the Christmas period/holiday from Saturday, December 21 to Sunday, January 5, when no work will take place.

We cannot estimate the amount of inconvenience our guests will experience at this time, as it entirely depends on the municipality's planning and will vary per period. We will monitor this as closely as possible and inform you through our FAQ.
